Free Maths Courses
Wokingham Borough Council are also running some free maths courses for adults. These courses include help with your maths, Excel at budgeting, maths for ESOL, maths in the workplace, supporting your child learning how to tell the time, times tables (including the year 4 national times tables test) and how to use Lego to improve their maths skills. Course dates are from 12th to 22nd March.

Cross Country
Oaklands Juniors prides itself on the reputation it has for the excellent behaviour of our children when representing the school at so many events. This is no less true for sporting events. We are also proud of our sporting achievements and brilliant attitude to sports that our children are encouraged to display in true sportsmanship style.
There are only two members of staff who organise approximately 50 children at these events, and both are busy with children at the start or awarding places at the finish for numerous races. Cross country is not an event where parents are purely spectators and we do need parents to volunteer to be marshals. We rely on parents who are not marshals to supervise their children to ensure behaviour is exceptional as it is normally in school. This includes not climbing trees, running off, or generally shouting/chanting when told not to do so whilst at our base. We want other schools to continue to comment on our school’s outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship. In general, most of our children display amazing attitudes and sportsmanship as well as resilience. We are proud of our school and the many wonderful children who take part in cross country.
Marshals are needed for our children’s safety. Due to it being a voluntary event, we ask parents to offer to help us with this. If your child takes part in cross country, please do offer at least once in the year to be a marshal, so that we can spread the workload.
