Walk to School Week
Week commencing Monday 20th May is Walk to School Week. Children should attempt to walk, scoot or cycle to school wherever possible to build up points for their class.
Crow’s Big Community Litter Pick – Sunday 19th May
Can you and your family help with this Autumn’s BIG Community Litter Pick ready for the hibernating season? All equipment is provided for people to collect from Crowthorne Market on Sunday 19th May between 10am – 12pm. Prizes will be given for the heaviest haul of litter, the furthest distance walked whilst picking and the strangest/most unusual item found.
Football and Athletics
New on our website this week are a couple of sporting opportunities. Finchampstead FC are looking for girls from Years 0 to 6 to try out a session or two on a Monday evening. Bracknell Athletics Club are running Young Athlete Sessions for all children in Years 4 to 6 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Get Extra Support for Your Child
Registering for free school meals if you’re eligible means you can help your child have a healthy lifestyle. Maybe your circumstances have changed, which means you could now register for free school meals. To qualify, your child must be in school and you must be receiving one of the following benefits:
- Income support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance
- NASS support
- Guarantee element of State Pension
- Child Tax Credit, provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
- Working Tax Credit for the four weeks after employment ends
- Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400
If this applies to you but your child isn’t registered for free school meals, complete a form and return it to your child’s school. Download the form and apply for Free School Meals on Wokingham Borough Council’s website.
Adult Cycle Training
The My Journey Team is running a 2 hour Adult Cycle training session at the FBC. Its aim is to provide parents with more confidence to cycle and hopefully then they will encourage their children to cycle more. More details can be found here.
