On Thursday, 28 September Oaklands Junior School took a team of 50 children to participate in an athletics tournament with two other schools. With the active support of a large number of parents, Oaklands School secured the second place in a very close competition. The behaviour of all children was excellent and they supported each other throughout the afternoon. Despite the lack of practice the performance of the Year Three children was particularly impressive. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our helpers, particularly Mrs Burrell, Miss Davidson and Mrs Rice.

The headmaster of Beechwood School commented on the enthusiasm and commitment of all the Oaklands children. We even entered four teams into the final relay race and were the last school to leave the tournament.
